Dave Maloney

About…

Dave Maloney was born and raised in Oakland, California. He was in Vietnam in 1968 which greatly affected him. He graduated from UC Davis in 1978 majoring in Community Health. Soon after he joined the Oakland Fire Dept. His major injuries while firefighting were serious back injuries, electrocution, and being burned. Dave began to row and swim in San Francisco Bay to help sooth emotional trauma.

“After several years I realized the earth and everything in and on it is one organism. When I paint my mind leaves this reality and goes into a space of peace and I am hardly aware of my brush moving.”
