Enjoy New Works by Susan Anson…
I feel I’ve always been an artist. As a teenager in California, I began to go to art schools in L.A. I was thrilled to be there, though I couldn’t have said those words then. I was born in Jersey City, NJ in 1940. My blind mother, younger sister, and I eventually moved to California.
In 1958, I entered UC Berkeley and was inspired by the students and art teachers with whom I studied. I married and raised a family; but still was engaged with making art.
I work now in a small format—in a small apartment. I’m often amused and feel fortunate that I can still work. Lately, I’ve been intrigued by drawing with thick, black, felt-tipped pens, as well as using various new mediums, such as hard knobs of acrylic glazes.
