Is the pool table free?

Yes. One old-fashioned table, free play, every day we're open. No quarters and no table fee. First come, first served.

Is there a cover charge for the live jazz?

No cover, no minimum. The Vince Lateano Trio plays the first Friday of every month from 6 to 9pm, outside on Francisco Street. Dress for the weather since the band is out in the parklet.

Yes. Thin crust pizza, shepherd's pie, mac and cheese, a toasted pretzel with spicy mustard, Castelvetrano olives, and house roasted nuts. Not a full kitchen, but real food.

What non-alcoholic options do you have?

BrewDog Hazy AF, Hopwater, Fever Tree ginger beer, Red Bull, and Fre alcohol-removed white and red wine. Always stocked. If you're not drinking there's something here for you.

Do you have outdoor seating?

Yes, we have a parklet on Francisco Street. It's where the jazz plays on first Fridays.

When is the next art opening?

A new artist goes up on the wall every month in the Black + White Gallery, with the opening usually on the first Friday from 6 to 8pm as part of the North Beach First Fridays art walk. Free and open to anyone.

Open seven days. Monday through Thursday and Sunday, 4pm to 10:30pm. Friday and Saturday, 4pm to 11pm. There is no happy hour.

Our story

Flicka McGurrin opened Sweetie's Art Bar over 20 years ago with one hope: to bring neighbors together.

Giving friends a place to gather and hang is what this San Francisco native does best. She named the bar after her dad, Howard McGurrin, everyone called him Sweetie.

The place is filled with artwork: paintings, photos, sculptures and drawings. The walls hold a living history of loved ones and local creatives. A new artist goes up every month in the Black + White Gallery, with the reception 6pm-8pm on First Fridays. Vince Lateano Trio brings live jazz to the scene from 6pm-9pm. A night full.

Sweetie's aims to support community in every possible way. Stop in for a drink, a bite and a chat, we'd love to see you. Known to many as ... "our other living room."

That is the whole idea. The pool table is free. The jazz has no cover. Nobody rushes you out.

Where to find us

Sweetie's is at 475 Francisco Street, between Mason and Powell, tucked off Columbus Avenue in North Beach. A short walk from Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, but not a wharf bar. Open seven days from 4pm.
